Lauren

being an artist is an important way to express what i'm of, see-feel, and appreciate.

art invited me into a portal to make sense of the world and myself, and

to bring beauty, connection, and meaning to our hearts and communities.

i paint often in acrylics, and experiment with watercolors, pastels, ink, charcoal, and often work on recycled canvas, cardboard, and other substrates. the layers, textures, lines, colors, and shapes of abstraction evoke feeling and invite deep thinking and simply being without words, which i believe we need defiantly and defensively and restoratively in a world where everything is being sold to us via words every second.

i have lived in 6 states, 4 time zones, and distinct regions across the U.S., all of which taught me, impacted me greatly, live in my heart, and inform my art. my work history is a crazy quilt of colors and textures and shapes, which figures into my art as well. art, creativity, and craft have been a constant companion and muse, connecting, intriguing, comforting everything along the way.

my first memory is of the ocean. i'm eternally grateful to live close to one, on the nearby estuary and river, in view of mountains and forest, near bays and farms on the north coast of oregon.

i am a child of
