abstract bookmarks - a happy accident
these are some bookmarks i am starting to work on. i paint on flattened cardboard boxes a lot. i started painting on them to take the pressure off, to help me play. i also use them to wipe paint onto when i'm done painting on other substrates, as a way not to waste the paint before washing the the brushes. that was how i came to see the bookmarks, primarily in the box lids - they were the perfect size for a bookmark. then i realized i could trim the rest of the box into strips, and there they were. fun, whimsical, with colors interplaying and shapes taking form, or not, and always ending in delight. i make them available for sale. they make great gifts. and are very pretty and interesting sticking out the ends of books. time will tell what colors will be added to these above. i just know i love them already, and hope others will, too.
