I often start with what it’s not: therapy, advice giving,
or authoritarian in nature. There is a bit of overlap, of course –
coaching, therapy or counseling involves great listening skills, processes for
change, empathy, offering directives, and ‘training wheels’ for new skills and
unchartered paths, and more. I share my knowledge and suggest options, but I
don’t tell you what to do because I trust you to know what’s best for you in
your heart and bones (and I help you get there if you don’t right now).
I view coaching as being your guide-partner for your goals and
dreams: It’s your journey, and I am honored to walk with you on it, work
through obstacles, celebrate successes, and help you in every way I can. I also
provide a very safe and affirming space for you to do some emotional healing as
you work on habit change, self-reinvention, and the never-straight-line to
goals and dreams; our old stuff always comes up, so let’s look at it and find a
way to love it and move it out to make room for the real you inside and out. I
have a master’s in counseling, and compassionately witness that we all have
pain, wounds and grief that needs expression in order to shift and heal. I see
you and honor all that you are, past, present, future.
We all benefit from coaching – if you are of the thought that
“I should be able to do this myself, I’d be embarrassed to ask for
help” – I will gently ask you to stop ‘shoulding’ on yourself.
<wink> The most successful people on the planet have coaches, no matter what
they do or who they are – or how you define success. Coaches are great
for us because they’re all FOR us. Our families and friends love us and can
certainly help us with a lot of things, but they can be blinded by that love,
or have overt and/or covert agendas, and sometimes keep you in a box or be
threatened by the changes you are seeking. An employer has a very specific
agenda for you, and while they can be very helpful, they operate through the
filter of the work and business. A coach is a positive-neutral presence whose
only objective is to help you accomplish what you set out to do.
I have coached on a wide and deep variety of issues around
personal and professional development: Self-esteem and empowerment;
assertiveness and improved communication (and letting go of passive and
passive-aggressiveness); grief,; life transitions of all kinds; career issues
and changes; health and wellness issues/improving habits; reduction and
body/self-love and compassion; ridding ourselves of fear, shame and negative
thinking; personal space; organization; and decluttering (LOVE this whole area
SO much as we transform on the inside while we transform our surroundings);
relationships; creativity; and, more.
I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about whether coaching with me is right for you and what you can expect. You get to ask me all you need to in order to decide about moving forward together toward the changes you’re seeking.
I do offer packages, and my single session (1 hour) rate is $100. That being said, I offer a donation rate of your choice if things are tough for you financially for a 45-minute session.
