My recent commonplace book entries - daily inspirations

May 18, 2016

Have you ever heard of a commonplace book ?  A commonplace book is a central resource or depository for ideas, quotes, anecdotes, observations and information you come across during your life and educational pursuits. The purpose of the book is to record, and if so inclined, organize these gems for later use in various parts your life.  I use some things in greeting cards, my writing, emails to friends, write them and post them around my house, and simply enjoy revisiting them and being helped by people who inspire me, soothe me, encourage me, remind me what's important, what's real, and more.

I’ve had a variety of them over the years, never terribly formalized.  My version at work is simply a piece of paper on my desk on which I scribble things down (and inevitably spill things on, showing they’re well-lived, I like to think).  I enjoy pausing and reading it over during the day.  One usually jumps out at me, and is what I need to hear in that moment.

I would just share a photo of the current page, but in the interest of making it easy for you (and having a digital record for myself) I’m recording them here. (I don’t have attributions for all of them, so if you recognize the author of one, please let me know.)

I hope some inspire and comfort you in the ways you need now or in the future.

“The opposite of your worst fear is always the way forward.”  -- Martha Beck

“Whatever you believe, you are.”

“If you believe you can’t, you’re right.”

“Stay in the frequency of love.” -- Martha Beck

“Run straight for joy.”  -- Danielle LaPorte

“I trust my Divine’s timing for all things I’m working on & dreaming of.  I accept and receive the Divine’s gifts for me, as they are beyond my wildest dreams and ability to imagine for myself.”  -- Tosha Silver

“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.”

“Let silence take you to the core of life.”  -- Rumi

“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.”  -- Zig Ziglar

“Let your pure faith burn the way.”  -- Danielle LaPorte

“Yes!” (We can’t quite attribute this to anyone, I suppose… it’s just a positive thing to be reminded of, uplifted by.  A friend had” Yes!” posted around her home in bright orange letters and I found it shiny and happy.)

“My name is stillness.” -- from a dream or meditation (or both?), Martha Beck

“Fast starts are never as important as… consistently showing up and committing to a process.” -- Seth Godin

“You are the love and the energy that fills the room when you enter it.”  -- Danielle LaPorte  (Oprah said something similar:  What energy are you bringing into the room?)

“Everything is working for me.” (Bryon Katie has a version similar to this, I think.)

“I’ve loved you for a thousand years and I’ll love you for a thousand more.”  -- Christina Perri

“Trust the magic.” -- Martha Beck

“How do I want to feel and who do I want to be?” -- Jill Farmer

“Trust in the process, in your true self, in God, in the scientific method, in any force you hope may be strong enough to hold you, ambivalence and all, for eve a little while.  It is in these moments shattering revolutions occur.” -- Martha Beck

What am I telling myself (and you) today?

It will all be okay.

You are okay.

You are more than enough.

You are loved more than you know.

You can quote me on that.

PS:  The photo has nothing to do with the post, I admit.  It was just a gorgeous day with rainbows!

++++++++++++++

I'm seeking to work with people who want to uncover their truths, let go of what's not serving them, and live a life they dream of.  If you know someone in need of helping with going inside, returning to their integrity, bringing their dreams to light, please forward my website to them.  I greatly appreciate your help in helping me be of service to others.
